Dancer, Dance Teacher & Choreographer
Moriah Leigh Taylor is widely recognized as a gifted dancer, passionate performer and inspirational instructor. She holds 15 years of teaching experience and extensive training in African and Jazz techniques. Originally from Boston but raised in Western Massachusetts, she gained a background in hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, liturgical and African dance from Kim’s Danceland of Springfield, MA, and later gained a contemporary background from Howard University. She shares her talents across industries as a founder of social enterprise with Springfield dance studio Rooted Essence Dance & Healing Arts. Moriah is also a higher educational professional, and has taught African dance at Mt. Holyoke College, UMass Amherst and Keene State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a masters in business administration from Bay Path University. She recently became a published author of her first book, Creative Entrepreneurship and is one of the first Springfield Creative Leader Award Recipients. Moriah is a sought after guest instructor at colleges and universities. In 2020 she became an international lecturer in Ghana and Nigeria, West Africa, sharing her passion for culture, art, education and entrepreneurship. She is dedicated to showing creatives that you don’t have to choose, but can find a pathway between it all.
